Dear Shri...,

This work focussing on the annual chart for the current Hindu year/ Tithi Pravesha Chakra may be taken to be in continuation of the previous work done on the radix through the Detailed Chart Analysis and the findings recorded herein have to be construed in that light.

The Tithi Pravesha Chakra commences with the following birth data: .... It may be noted that the Hindu birthday varies in terms of the Western Gregorian calendar from year to year due to the fact that it is based on the Tithi/ the angular distance between Ravi and Chandra.

The first fact that presents itself to us on viewing the Lagna in the Tithi Pravesha Chakra is that it is Kumbha/ Aquarius and this happens to be in the 2nd Bhava from the Lagna in the natal Rashi Chakra. The dictum is that the Lagna in the Tithi Pravesha Chakra if in the Kendra/ quadrant or the trine/ Trikona from the natal Rashi Chakra Lagna is favourable else it represents other issues. The 2nd Bhava is neither a Kendra nor a Trikona and so coupled with the findings regarding the Kantak Shani as indicated in the previous work it does appear that the year cannot be said to be outright favourable due to the relative positioning of the Lagna in the Tithi Pravesha Chakra and that in the Rashi Chakra.

The other two determinants which are quite crucial for annual horoscopy are the Hora lord and the Vara lord. The Vara lord is of course the lord of the Vedic day when the Hindu year commences and the Hora lord is the ruler of the hour of the commencement of the year.

In this chart, the Vara lord is Shukra/ Venus which is a Yogakaraka both for the natal Lagna in the Rashi Chakra and the Lagna in the Tithi Pravesha Chakra ruling both a quadrant and a trine from the Lagna and capable of giving Rajayoga on its own. In the Tithi Pravesha Chakra for the year Shukra Graha rules the 4th and the 9th Bhavas and is an excellent planet. Now, the Vara lord carries with it all the energy quotient for the fructification of events through the year. It is an extremely important planet and the fact that such a Graha becomes the Yogakaraka for the chart augurs extremely well for the event fructification for the year.

The Hora lord for the year is the 5th and 8th Lord Budh/ Mercury and shows the focus of the mind for the year and what the person shall consider of importance through the year. This planet indicates the interaction and crux areas for the person through the year.

Kumbha/ Aquarius Lagna has two lords, Shani and Rahu and while Shani is in the 8th Bhava, Rahu is in the 10th Bhava from the Lagna. The focus for the year as far as the self and the applied intelligence is concerned is contained in the 10th and 8th Bhavas of Karma and transformation.

The manifest personality in the world of day to day life, as you know is judged from the Arudha Lagna which is the Mayik and the societal persona of the native. The Arudha Lagna in your Tithi Pravesha Chakra Rashi Chakra for the year is in the 4th Bhava from the Lagna and contains the Yoga of Mangal and Ketu. Mangal and Ketu are interestingly both lords of the 10th Bhava from the Lagna and together form an incendiary Yoga in the 4th House.

The 4th House is the place of rest, the home and a cure of all evils and the placement of two dire malefics together form the Pishacha-Badhaka Yoga which creates a lot of Agni in the heart and the person succumbs to great anger. This Yoga will generate heat in the mind with reference to the career and work due to the fact that the Grahas are the lords of the Karma Bhava. You may feel as if you are possessed and this feeling will be difficult to shake off due to the fact that the Yoga occurs in a Sthira Rashi/ fixed sign. As this is also the place of residence, you will feel compelled to move. Since Rahu and Ketu are involved the allure of foreign lands and foreign connections will be notable.

The placement of Guru/ Jupiter for the year worries me as it is the 2nd and 11th Lord of the Rashi Chakra for the Tithi Pravesha Chakra and represents Kubera for the year, the God of wealth. But his Graha is placed in the 12th Bhava from the Arudha Lagna showing major expenses or losses of money. Be careful in the realm of finances. This is especially so because Guru is the Naisargika Karaka/ Natural Significator for wealth and money and therefore even more strongly indicates the foregoing.

In addition, the Dhanakaraka Guru is placed in the Marana Karaka Sthana from the Lagna in the 3rd Bhava where the Graha feels suffocated and not at its best. The 2nd and 11th Bhavas which it lords shall suffer adversity due to its placement in Marana Karaka Sthana from the Lagna and shall suffer a surrendering/ giving away of wealth and resources.

As regards the marriage, once again the indications only appear to confirm the realities of the marriage as the 8th Lord of the Rashi Chakra is placed in the 7th Bhava of marriage and acts as Maraka. At the same time the 7th Lord indicating the spouse is placed in the 6th Bhava from the Lagna and in the 12th Bhava from the 7th dissipates the marital atmosphere.

Furthermore Budh in a male Rashi/ odd sign will give the results of its even lordship, which is Kanya Rashi occupying the 8th Bhava from the Lagna. It is Venus/ Shukra as the Vara lord and the Yogakaraka planet for the year ruling the 4th and the 9th Bhavas which is excellently posited in the 5th Bhava from the Lagna and in the 2nd Bhava from the Arudha Lagna. This is the Graha which salvages the entire situation. In the 2nd Bhava from the Arudha Lagna it will sustain the material image in society and will prove auspicious for matters related to society and movement therein. As the 4th and 9th Lord it can aid aspirations from foreign lands (9th House function).

Another aspect is that the Upapada Lagna showing the manifest features of the marriage and the spouse is also in the 4th Bhava from the Lagna. This too is beset by the Mangal-Ketu Yoga in the 4th House showing chances of arguments and fights in the marriage. At the risk of emphasising it too much, this Mangal-Ketu Yoga is never welcome and causes a lot of unrest and therefore needs to be watched carefully through the year.

The Moon/ Chandra being the 6th Lord is placed in the 2nd Bhava from the Lagna but more importantly in the 11th Bhava from the Arudha Lagna. It indicates gains and in a dual sign ruled by Guru it indicates continued income. Furthermore Shukra and Shani also aspect Chandra with Rashi Drishti/ sign aspect and Shani aspects also with Graha Drishti/ planetary aspect showing significant sources of gains through the year.

Regarding your work query some of the evaluations of the 10th Bhava and lords given above already indicate the possibility of coming back to your old role as being faint, coupled with the findings recorded in the natal chart Analysis and also taking the Gochar influences in the chart. Also if we consider the 10th Lord from Chandra being the index of the social support in the realm of career, we find that Dhanu Rashi/ Sagittarius is the relevant sign and the lord of this sign is placed in the 3rd Bhava in Marana Karaka Sthana and also in the 12th Bhava from the Arudha Lagna. It is not really a scenario where too much positive may be expected by way of social support in terms of opportunities accruing by way of circumstances to yield the desired reversal back to the area of core-competence.

The 10th Bhava is the zenith of the chart, also called Swarga where the native attains his highest and indicates the ability of the person to work. The two lords of this house are joined in an unfavourable Yoga and so there is need for caution while interpreting work scenarios.

The Navamsha Chakra examined as an independent chart also reveals a similar picture where the 10th Lord Shukra is placed in Marana Karaka Sthana in the 6th Bhava from the Lagna and joined the Lagna Lord Shani. While this is a Rajayoga, the same occurs in the 6th Bhava and involves a Marana Karaka Sthana Shukra showing frustration in the work.

Notably, the 10th Lords of the Rashi Chakra, Mangal and Ketu are again joined in the Bhagya Sthana which is hardly a positive any can indicate some setback due to a mistake (Ketu).

But yes, some kind of change could be well on the cards as the Lagna Lord of the Rashi Chakra Shani is in the 8th Bhava of changes and transformations and the 10th Lords of the Rashi Chakra, taken by their placements in the Kanya Amsha in the Navamsha Chakra and transposed back to the Rashi Chakra go to the 8th Bhava which again indicates a change in the area of application of work. Shukra is Vargottama, being placed in Mithun Rashi and Mithun Amsha and one supposes it can safely be said it is the periods of Shukra Graha which would have a clinching significance in the year.

In fact this period is running now as evidenced by the scheme of the Mahadasha sequences in the Tithi Ashtottari Dasha below:

...

The Vargottama Grahas have a straight effect on the self and the head of the person. Since Shukra is in Mithun Rashi and Mithun Amsha it indicates companies and communications with companies.

The Dashamsha Chakra/ D-10 actually defines the finer details of the work and career. Chances of getting a new job including one in the core sector seem more pronounced than a reversal into the previous job. Fund management is also indicated by the placement of Chandra in a Rashi ruled by Guru in the 1th Bhava from the Arudha Lagna showing gains. Guru is the Karaka for finances.

In the Dashamsha Chakra many adverse indications of the Rashi Chakra simply disappear showing that while the realities indicated in the Rashi Chakra have their own significance, the Dashamsha Chakra allays many of those problems. To start with the Vargottama Vara lord Shukra is exalted as the Lagna Lord of the Dashamsha Chakra. The Vara lord becoming the Lagna Lord of the Dashamsha Chakra shows that the application of the energy quotient for the fructification of events will be primarily in the application of self in the realm of work. Financial satisfaction and achieving heights in this context would be the main goal as the Lagna Lord of the Dashamsha Chakra is exalted in the Labh Sthana from the Lagna in this Varga Chakra.

The 4th Lord of the Dashamsha Chakra indicating the office and the work place is exalted in Marana Karaka Sthana in the 12th Bhava from the Lagna joined Rahu, the co-lord of the 10th House. This indicates real suffering at the work place and the consequent urge to relocate or find work in distant lands or with a connection to the distant lands.

There is a stupendous Gajakesari Yoga formed by the Yoga of Guru and Chandra in the 4th Bhava from the Lagna in the Dashamsha Chakra and the 2nd and the 5th Lord Budh is also placed here. The element of change in the work place is also indicated by the fact that Guru is the 8th Lord of the Dashamsha Chakra and that such a change would pave the way for the professional future since the 2nd Bhava lordship of Budh is that of the 5th Lord of the future when reckoned from the 10th Bhava 0f Karma.

In the 6th House there is again a nodal influence showing a role of foreign lands and connections and the 9th and 10th Lord, Shani, the Yogakaraka for the Vrishabh Lagna/ Taurus is placed in the 6th Bhava. Rahu and Ketu impacting the 6-12 axis in the Dashamsha Chakra/ D-10 chart show that you should focus more on the foreign angle.

Also due to the overwhelming importance of Shukra Graha for the year being the Vara lord in Vargottama position and also being exalted in the Dashamsha Chakra in the 11th Bhava the private sector orientation seems more plausible since Shukra governs the corporate sector.

Due to the foregoing analysis I don’t think you should opt for your own business at this time dominantly due to the placement of the Dhanakaraka Guru, being the 2nd and the 11th Lord, in the Marana Karaka Sthana from the Lagna and in the 12th Bhava from the Arudha Lagna which may lead to heavy losses.

This Mahadasha of Shukra running in the Tithi Ashtottari Dasha scheme is by far the best period for initiating steps to attract monies since Venus is the 9th Lord of the Rashi Chakra and being the Vara lord has the best chance to make things fructify. It sustains the Arudha Lagna from the Dhana Bhava from the Arudha Lagna in the 2nd therefrom and being the Yogakaraka for the Lagna is the best candidate to bring such positives to fruition.

In the Dashamsha Chakra it is the Lagna Lord in the 11th Bhava of gains and you should initiate all possible steps during this period.

The period runs till 24th January, 2012 and this is the golden time in which to try and give shape to your plans which have been crystallised above. Furthermore Shukra is joined the A3 and the A7, the Vikrama Pada and the Darapada and it indicates that you would initiate communications for the purpose since the A3 is the Arudha Pada of the 3rd Bhava from the Lagna. The Darapada indicates wealth and money and in the 5th Bhava from the Lagna, a Lakshmi Sthana, and the 2nd Bhava from the Arudha Lagna, the Dhana Bhava it has the potential to improve your situation in the Mahadasha.

These results have to be construed with reference to the overall findings for these times which are a bit oppressed as indicated previously. If money is to come to you, this is at least as god a phase, if not better for the money to arrive.

The next Mahadasha in the Tithi Ashtottari Dasha scheme is that of Ravi and being the 7th Lord in the 6th Bhava from the Lagna it will bring out the fissures in the marriage. As a malefic in the 3rd Bhava from the Arudha Lagna the Graha will give good results at the material level encouraging enterprise and Parakrama in general. In the 8th House as the 8th Lord in the Navamsha Chakra it has the potential to bring in changes and as the 4th Lord exalted in Marana Karaka Sthana in the 12th Bhava in the Dashamsha Chakra it can change the work place during its Mahadasha.

The Chandra Mahadasha is also a strong period, almost as strong as the Shukra Mahadasha since the Graha is Vargottama being placed in the same Rashi and Amsha, that is Meena/ Pisces. It is placed in the 11th Bhava from the Arudha Lagna in the Rashi Chakra making it a straight source for income and in the Dashamsha Chakra is participates in a fantastic Gajakesari Yoga with Guru in a Mitra Rashi/ friendly sign.

Be very careful about suddenness, abruptness and anger in the Mahadasha if Mangal in the Tithi Ashtottari Dasha scheme as it is joined Ketu in the Arudha Lagna and there can be mistakes during this Mahadasha. Since the Arudha Padas are signified by Chandra, any Graha which is inimical to Chandra does not do well in the Arudha Padas, especially the Arudha Lagna.

One has also to be careful because in the Dharmamsha/ Navamsha Chakra the Graha is again placed with Ketu in the Bhagya Sthana itself which is akin to being in the Lagna as the Navamsha Chakra Lagna is taken to be like the 9th House since the Varga Chakra relates to Dharma and one’s correct life path. Do be careful and this cautionary note is struck with respect to the financial situation as well since the Graha is conjoined the Arudha Pada of the Dhana Bhava or the A2 in the Rashi Chakra. Once again there is tremendous malefic influence in the 6th Bhava from the Lagna in the Dashamsha Chakra with Ketu showing up again with the Yogakaraka Shani.

The Budh Mahadasha will be an excellent period as it is a Rajasic Graha placed in the Rajas Guna 4th Bhava from the Arudha Lagna in the Rashi Chakra and is also the 5th Lord placed in a Kendra. As the Karaka for currency and trading, it is well joined the Labh Pada/ A11 in the 7th Bhava from the Lagna and also joined the Karma Pada/ A10 which is also a positive since Budh is one of the Karakas for the 10th Bhava itself.

In this Mahadasha there is a chance for that loan you have given to be recovered as Budh is also the 8th Lord of loans in the Rashi Chakra and this period is singularly positive in work as the Graha is joined two outright benefics Guru and Chandra which form the Gajakesari Yoga in the 4th Bhava from the Lagna in the Dashamsha Chakra. the working hours and the working circumstances both become quite positive as Budh is the 2nd and 5th Lord from the Lagna in the Dashamsha Chakra showing the professional future and the events in this Mahadasha may be considered carefully as being avenues for future positive growth.

Shani Mahadasha continues the theme for the recovery of the large amount of money as this Graha is posited in the 8th Bhava from the Lagna. The intellect will work very well during this Mahadasha as the Graha is joined Shukra the 5th Lord as the Lagna Lord in the 6th Bhava from the Lagna indicating growth of thoughts. So important decisions requiring intellectual application may be taken during this period.

Otherwise Chandra in the 2nd Bhava from the Lagna provides Shubh Argala or positive intervention to the Lagna and there will be a good social and mental connect with what transpires through the year and there will be an element of conflict between the need to transform life and the persistent issues in working life which is indicated by the equality of the Argala and the Virodha Argala from the 8th and 6th Bhava from the Lagna respectively and also because Ravi and Shani are not well-disposed to each other.

With this I trust I have touched upon the main aspects that shall operate through the year and ought to point out that this work must be read conjointly with the Detailed Chart Analysis carried out previously and a sort of combined reading arrived at for understanding.

Best wishes,

Anurag Sharma,

New Delhi, India.

A BRIEF LOOK AT THE TWELVE LAGNAS/ ASCENDANTS IN VEDIC ASTROLOGY

People are often curious at the beginning of their astrological quest, to know something of the various facets pertaining to their ‘chart’; in other words, they wish to evaluate the basic propensities pertaining to their Lagnas and their Rashi/ Lagna Kundalis (Kundalis). Also, the Chandra Lagna itself and Gochar furnish other popular areas of curiosity. Lagna is the sign rising on the Eastern horizon at the time of birth and is occupied by a Rāśi (Rashi)/ Vedic sign. The average duration of a sign rising in the Lagna/ Ascendant is two hours and for this reason the twelve Rāśis cover the twenty-four hours duration of the solar day. ( Basic Jyotiṣa principles can be accessed by clicking this link ) Lagna imbues a person with individuality and therefore denotes the self and the personality of the person. It is the first house or Bhāva of the chart and is the commencement point of any horoscopic study. We cannot forget that in all the divisional charts as well there is a Lagna/ asc

A METHODOLOGY FOR VEDIC CHART INTERPRETATION

The following is an attempt to lay down a general method to conduct professional chart analysis. It appears to have worked well for the author in his practice. Notably though, it need not be the best way to interpret charts and the astrologer must find her own way when it comes to developing a structure with which to unravel any given chart. Some of the more general features of interpretation are being omitted for fear of the paper becoming unwieldy but certain crucial aspects of Jyotish interpretation are being explained since these are not very widely used. The author is indebted to the works of Pt. Sanjay Rath, author, scholar and Jyotish Guru of Sri Jagannath Center. It is through assimilating the writings of Pt. Rath that the author has been able to progress from the fundamentals of Jyotish to a somewhat deeper understanding. ARUDHA PADAS: The houses as reckoned from the Lagna/ Ascendant reveal the truth about the native. This is metaphysical reality as distinguished from precipit

Yanavanta/ Annapurna/ Vahana Yoga of Venus and Moon in Scorpio-8th October, 2013

The Yānavaṅta/ Yanavanta/ Annapūrṇā/ Annapurna/ Vāhana/ Vahana Yoga is formed when Venus and Moon/ Śukra and Cañdra/ Shukra and Chandra associate to form a Yoga in the Vedic horoscope; by Vedic horoscope is meant the Rāśi Cakra/ Rashi Chakra and the Varga Chakra as well, the latter being the divisional charts governing specific areas of life such as marriage (Navāmśa/ Navamsha), career (Daśāmśa/ Dashamsha), children (Saptāmśa/ Saptamsha), parents and elders (Dwādaśāmśa/ Dwadashamsha), comforts and luxuries (Ṣodaśāmśa/ Shodashamsha), spirituality and worship (Vimśāmśa/ Vimshamsha), education (Siddhāmśa/ Siddhamsha) etc. Let us consider the immediate meanings of the various terms used to indicate the Yoga formed due to the association of Venus and the Moon. The term Yānavaṅta/ Yanavanta indicates the charioteer or one guiding the vehicle of humanity or a group or individuals. It indicates leadership and the capacity to show the way to the multitudes and to guide and mould their live
